Feature film
Five years ago the bodies of four young people were fished out of a burning house in rural Estonia. However, the reason for their death was not an accidental fire - it was a collective suicide with religious undertones. Now, the father of one of the victims - Enn Padrik - finds out he has only months to live. This drives the man to take on a journey long overdue to find out the cause of his daughter Anni’s and the others’ tragic death. To find out what drove the people of Kaskedetaguse to end their lives together, Enn must trace the important people in Anni's life in Germany and Estonia. Slowly, as Enn is trying to reconstruct Anni’s last few years through the memories of other people and comparing them to his own understanding of the daughter he raised, a dark and complicated picture starts to unfold. The more Enn learns about Anni the more he starts to question if he ever knew his daughter and soon enough we are faced with the dilemma of whether it had been better to leave the past undisturbed.
